Parish Council - two vacancies to be filled

Nocton Parish By-Election

Thursday 4th November 2010

This particular vacancy on the Parish Council was prompted by the resignation of Gerry Watchus.

If there are contesting nominations for election, the actual Polling Day will be 4th November.  Voting for candidates will take place between 07.00am and 10.00pm, with the count taking place at approximately 10.15pm.

Nominations should be submitted to North Kesteven District Council no later than noon on Friday 8th October 2010.

NOTICE OF ELECTION
ELECTION OF A COUNCILLOR
FOR THE
PARISH OF NOCTON

Notice is hereby given:

1. An election is to be held of a councillor for the parish of Nocton.
2. Nomination papers must be delivered to the Returning Officer, Electoral Services, North Kesteven District Council, Council Offices, Kesteven Street, Sleaford, NG34 7EF, on any day after the date of this notice, but not later than noon on Friday 8th October 2010.
3. Nomination papers may be obtained from the Returning officer, Electoral Services, North Kesteven District Council, who will at the request of any elector for the said electoral area, prepare for signature a nomination paper.
4.  If this election is contested, the poll will take place on Thursday 4th November 2010.
5.  Electors should take note that new applications for a postal or postal proxy vote, or to change or cancel and existing postal or postal proxy vote, must reach the Returning Officer, Electoral Services, North Kesteven District Council, Council Offices, Kesteven Street, Sleaford, NG34 7EF by 5.00pm on Wednesday 20th day of October 2010, to be effective for this election.
6.  Applications for a new proxy vote, or to change or cancel an existing proxy vote, other than for a medical emergency, must reach the Returning Officer by 5.00pm on Wednesday 27th October 2010, if they are to be effective for this election.
7.  Applications for a proxy vote appointment on the grounds of a medical emergency must reach the Returning Officer by 5.00pm on Thursday 4th November 2010 if they are to be effective for this election.

Notice of Vacancy

It is with regret that I report this next vacancy on the Parish Council, following the untimely death of Mr Harry Capewell.  Harry served his local community with dignity and pride for which we are ever grateful.  Our thoughts are with his wife and family at this sad time.

NOTICE OF VACANCY
IN THE OFFICE OF PARISH COUNCILLOR

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN pursuant to Section 87 (2) of the Local Government Act 1972 and Rules 5(1) to 5(6) the Local Elections (Parish and Communities) (England and Wales) Rules 2006 that:

HARRY JOHN CAPEWELL

has ceased to be a member of the above Parish Council and that a casual vacancy exists in the office of Councillor for the said Parish.

On receipt of a request in writing from any ten local government electors whom are on the register at the time of the request for the said Parish, an election to fill the vacancy will be held within sixty days from the date of publication of the notice.  If no such request is made, the vacancy will be filled through co-option by the Parish Council.

Requests for such an election should be addressed to The Returning Officer, North Kesteven District Council, Council Offices, Kesteven Street, Sleaford, Lincs, NG34 7EF to arrive not later than fourteen days from the date of this notice (computed in accordance with Rule 5 of the Local Elections (Parishes and Communities) (England and Wales) Rules 2006.
