Nocton Dairies Ltd - substantial changes

Farmers appeal to residents as 'substantial changes' are made to super-dairy plans

A response from Nocton Dairies public relations representative dated 9th October to Liaison Group members (copy courtesy of a local resident):

"Just a quick note to let you know that we are still working on the planning application. Despite our best efforts it still isn’t ready for resubmission because we are adamant it has to be right before it goes back in and needs to have addressed all the concerns that have been raised. We apologise if this is keeping people hanging about and accept that several months ago September was highlighted as likely for resubmission, but please believe us, we would also like it back in as soon as possible and are trying our best! For this reason it hasn’t yet been possible to fully update the factsheet document as that has to be as accurate as possible before being sent out. We aim to issue it as soon as the plans are finalised, which means it will be sent out just before/as the planning application goes back in, and the website will be up and running at that point too.

You may also be aware we sent a letter to the council clarifying that there are no current spreading agreements with any neighbours and that there are some substantial changes to the plans – some of which you are already aware of through the meetings. We hope this will be posted on the application documents soon but it has been publicised through the Lincolnshire Echo today in the meantime."

Does this suggest the original plans were fatally flawed?

How can the public be confident the amended plans will be any better thought through?

It seems to me this consortium are amending plans 'on the hoof'... all in the drive to gain acceptability.

  1. Hi Geoff
this seemed an easy way to contact you. Would it be ok if I picked some bits off your blog to publish in the magazine for eg your rundown of the hall presentation? You have some great stuff historically from when you first started so I would like to mine some of that if thats OK. Of course I will acknowledge the source. I have started a blog in respect of the church and happenings around the village (ex the diary)its www.nocton-church.blogspot.com would you like to cross link them?

    Cheers

    Chris

  2. Hello Chris, Thanks for asking, but I would prefer to keep my Nocton blog as a record of my personal opinions, experiences and research about the village, without the content being published in numerous locations elsewhere. If I wanted my views publishing further afield, I would have taken steps to contact the relevant people/editors concerned. So please forgive me if I do not give you permission to take full extracts from my blog. That said, you are quite within your rights to make weblinks to the relevant pages, so readers of your blog and the Church Magazine, can visit the content in its published place. Finally, you will note I already provide a link to the All Saints Parish Church website, so I don't really see the need to provide a link to yet another Nocton Church related website. Hope this explains things. Regards, Geoff

  3. Hi

I live in Martin and want to join the campaign.
I have written a anti poem about the proposed dairy which I have already sen to CAFFO.
    It opens like this:

Let me take you out in the slurry
Smell the acrid pong of the slurry
Let me take you out in the slurry
    With the scum on to.

Would you like the see the rest?

  4. Hi David, If you would like to publish the rest of your poem here, no problem (as long as it doesn't contain any bad language that is). Regards,
    Geoff
