Mega-dairy plans divide Nocton villagers
'As the final preparations are made to a planning application to build Europe's biggest dairy farm in Lincolnshire, the BBC's rural affairs correspondent Jeremy Cook investigates how mega-dairy farms, commonplace in the US, could revolutionise British agriculture.'
My comment
If Nocton Dairies are to avoid having to re-incur expensive planning fees in accordance with Government Circular 04/2008, Planning Related Fees (Para 85), it would seem there is a pressing need to submit the amended plans before the deadline of 17th December 2010 (i.e. 12 months from when the original application was made).
The delay in submission could be for any number of reasons:
a) Perhaps the consortium is having difficulty collating all the scientific evidence requested by the Environmental Impact Assessment Scoping Report issued by North Kesteven District Council?
b) Is it more likely due to the substantial changes being made to original plans in order to improve chances of success?
c) Possibly the consortium is short of the required amount of land needed to adhere with the Nitrate Pollution Prevention Regulations?
Whatever the reason, all we really know is that submission of the revised plans is still awaited.

Fury as farmers blockade Tesco depot
'FARMERS formed a blockade outside a Tesco depot near Southampton last night (Thursday, October 21) to protest against poor returns from all the major supermarkets.'
My comment
UK farmers have finally had enough of the pressure from supermarkets and are starting to take direct action it seems. Perhaps they have been watching their Gallic counterparts over the Channel?

The main problem with the headline; "Mega-dairy plans divide Nocton villagers" is that they're referring to Willes v locals ... last time I looked, Willes was not living amongst the locals ... and considering the reaction his plans have received so far, although he's welcome to try it, I don't think he would really settle easily into Nocton village life.
