Let the battle commence.

Exclusive Clydesdale Bank under fire over finance for Nocton 'super dairy'

'Campaigners claim the bank has refused to state what environmental assessments were carried out before supplying a mortgage - part of a £13-million land deal - to company behind controversial Nocton proposal'

Nocton Dairies: Minimum stress and good nutrition are key to large-scale herd

'WITH a 2,000-cow unit at Clitheroe, Lancashire, David Barnes already runs one of the largest dairy farms in the UK. But that was never his intention, as Joanne Pugh found out when visiting his herd, which started out with 450 cows.'

Interesting that this article mentions: 'Mr Barnes and his farm business consultant Graham Surtees...' when NKDC were not aware of the business relationship... mmm. I believe a response from Ian Fytche (Chief Executive) is still awaited on this matter.

Residents still unhappy with revised plans to halve the number of cows at super-dairy

'THE number of cows at a proposed super-dairy in Lincolnshire has more than halved.'

Nocton Dairies: Farmers plan to press ahead with 8,000-cow dairy

'THE directors of Nocton Dairies have boldly stated their intention to press ahead with an 8,000-cow dairy in Lincolnshire, despite unveiling substantially reduced plans.'

Nocton Dairies: Super dairy could be a cow heaven - David Barnes

'The farmers behind Nocton Dairies thought they were going to be heroes. When they submitted plans in February to develop what would be Europe’s largest dairy farm within the arable lands of Lincolnshire, they genuinely believed they would be setting groundbreaking new standards of milk production.'

Nocton Dairies: Will there be a market for milk from super dairies?

'COULD milk from large dairies be the new GM? That may sound far-fetched, but the similarities are hard to ignore. Back in the 1990s, the biotech industry sought to launch a new technology in Europe that was gaining momentum, largely unchallenged, in the US.'

If you have concerns too over the revised plans for this dairy, can I urge all my readers to register their objections. There is much reference material located in this blog that you can use to form your argument.

  1. I wonder if people can actually envisage what 4,000 cows looks like. I've seen 2,000 first-hand, and it's mind boggling.
The numbers really don't matter once you get 3 noughts in a row - it's far too many.
Nocton Dairies are still intent on focusing on "welfare" - this has never been an argument used by locals.
I urge everyone to attend any public meetings - please come and see for yourselves what could be coming our way.
