  1. I see from information supplied on this blog that the institution backing Nocton Dairies is the Yorkshire bank.
After the debacle surrounding the Clydesdale bank recently who supplied funds to Nocton Dairies without carrying out an environmental assessment, I am wondering if Yorkshire bank has done the same.
Large financial institutions have rules to follow before they lend. If they have indeed lent money, or intend to lend money to Nocton Dairies, then surely an environmental assessment should have been mandatory. Maybe further investigation is called for on this subject to see if the Yorkshire bank has indeed followed expected protocol. If it has not, then it should answer to its customers and share holders!

  2. Thanks for your comment David. Just in case you were not aware, the Yorkshire Bank was in fact merged with Clydesdale Bank back in 2001, although it continued to trade under its own name. I know enquiries about the financing of Nocton Dairies Ltd were sent to the Clydesdale Head Office, but the courtesy of reply was never forthcoming, presumably because of customer confidentiality.

  3. Geoff. Star you are! Thanks for enlightening me. I see that the Clydesdale bank is owned by NAB (National Australia Bank).
Having just checked their web site I see that they are totally committed to environmental issues and impacts having put in place many projects that benefit the world in which we live.
That leaves me with a dilemma as NAB have obviously not practiced what they preach. May be I will drop NAB a line to ask the question as to why their subsidiary Clydesdale Bank did not carry out an environmental assessment. It would be nice to get a reply from the big Office. Maybe others would also wish to write.
