Ludicrous planning rules

'Ministers announced yesterday that they will sweep away regulations that can stop elected representatives from championing local issues.'

No doubt local Councillors in North Kesteven District Council will be starting to think about the forthcoming election in May.

With the contentious Nocton Dairy application on the horizon and considering the huge public outcry against the plans, Councillors may well be thinking about how their vote may affect their prospect for re-election.

Anyone wanting to stand for the NKDC elections must do so before noon on 5th April - with nominations opening on 21st March.

The planning application of Nocton Dairies has a Target Determination Date of 18th February 2011 and is coupled with a Determination Deadline of 11th March. If the decision is made by full Planning Committee, the result will be known well in advance of the election date of 5th May... and the public will also know how each Councillor voted on the matter too.
