NKDC website flaky

Problems with IT at NKDC

It seems the planning portal of North Kesteven District Council is having great difficulty coping with the onslaught of demand.

To date I have logged the following difficulties - and there may have been more:

10th December 2010 (0816hrs & 0836hrs)
No access to documents on site - just a blank screen when trying to download.

12th December 2010
Website down in the evening 'until 1100hrs for essential maintenance'.

14th December 2010 (1357hrs)
'The webpage cannot be found'.

1st January 2011 (13.13hrs)
'We are unable to display this page at the moment. Please try again later.'

14th January 2011 (22.59hrs)
‘The webpage cannot be found’.

15th January 2011 (09.35hrs & 1104hrs)
‘The webpage cannot be found.’

The latest problem appears it may last throughout the weekend, unless IT staff are aware of the problem and are on 'call-out' to effect a repair.

This is an unacceptable service at a time of public need, when many are still trying to register comments against planning applications, particularly one so contentious as Nocton Dairies' submission.

Whilst the main dairy application (10/1397/FUL) consultation period has ended, North Kesteven District Council have advised that people can still register comment.  However, there is still the digestate pipeline application (10/1522/FUL) that is currently open for comment too.

Nocton Dairy publicity drive

I opened my post yesterday, to find yet another copy of the Nocton Dairies' publicity leaflet with a covering letter.  Here are some extracts:

"14 January 2011

Dear Nocton resident

We have had concerns raised by a couple of Nocton residents that a recent drop of factsheets summarising the Nocton Dairies planning application didn't reach many people in the village.

They asked if this distribution could be carried out again, especially in advance of the upcoming meeting on the 19th, so that the contents of the planning application were clearer for those who still felt they would benefit from more information.  They also felt it would be useful to include some of the other information available on the website on welfare and sustainability, for which a two-page summary of each has been provided.

We realise that some people will not want this mailing and if this is the case, we apologise and request you recycle the contents of this envelope."

Is this Nocton Dairies trying to influence the local population before the meeting on 19th January, or a genuine attempt at providing information?  You decide.  I have recycled mine!

There is more detail about the meeting on my blog if you missed it previously:
