Water

Anglian Water objects too

I have just read the document dated 21st January 2011 from Anglian Water and note their conclusion:

"In summary it is felt the documentation does not fully address our concerns and the requirements of the Scoping opinion have only been partially met.

We fully support the EA's comments and their objection to this application as submitted because the proposed development would pose an unacceptable risk of pollution to groundwater."

Please see the following which may be of interest to you.

Water

A thought-provoking video on the continued availability of water.  As I said in my objection to the Nocton Dairies planning application,

"With Lincolnshire being classed as a ‘moderately dry’ area, can we really justify on environmental grounds the extraction of 28.54 million gallons of fresh water per annum by Nocton Dairies, only for them to return contaminated water as the quid pro quo?  I think not."

Water UK Response to Defra’s Consultation on CAP Health Check - September 2008

'The water industry is concerned that further expansion in dairy production will result in additional phosphorus and nitrate loads in rivers from the agricultural sector, which results in well established environmental impacts.'

'Furthermore, expansion of dairy production may result in additional load of microbiological contamination of water used for drinking...'

'There are risks to public health from agriculture such as chemicals getting into the water supply or pathogens such as cryptosporidium. Intensive animal husbandry can result in microbiological pollution of rivers...'

'There are presently challenges in relation to water and agriculture for the water industry, e.g. availability and quality of resources (in particular for drinking water purposes), ecosystem quality, costs of pollution removal, costs of diffuse pollution and over-abstraction of the resources.'

NKDC Planning refce: 11/0059/FUL

I came across this new reference whilst reading all the latest papers from Nocton Dairies.  This may refer to the reservoir application, which possibly hasn't been validated yet.

You may wish to keep searching for this each day on the NKDC site just in case it appears without announcement.
