Police, Camera, Action

Police activity

There was intense police activity in the Nocton area last night.  A helicopter was circling the skies immediately above the village, searching the area with their powerful Nightsun spotlight, turning night into day. The aircraft woke me just before midnight - it seemed to stay airborne for at least 35-40 minutes before landing in the area.

I don't know who or what was the target, but the focus of search pattern seemed to be over Nocton Hall, Nocton Park and grounds. At least three police cars were present on the ground, possibly more. Two bobbies emerged from the Bridlepath at approximately 00.30hrs and wandered off down towards the All Saints Church.

A little later, I heard a vehicle with a big bore exhaust cruise down into the village and head off into The Green. The vehicle then went towards the Village Hall before returning almost immediately to drive down the Bridlepath. A short while later, I heard it accelerate rapidly away, up the Nocton Estate private driveway to the B1188 Sleaford/Lincoln road. All very odd.

If anyone has any further information, I would be interested in your comments. If I discover anything further about this incident, I will post an update.

Update

I have just had confirmation from our local PCSO that an elderly lady had gone missing from the Residential Care Home. I am pleased to report she was found safe and well.

  1. Your local PCSO is correct. The helicopter was the North Midlands Police Helicopter from Ripley in Derbyshire. The crew spotted the missing lady after about 40 minutes searching and then landed as the ground units were struggling to get near her due to various security fences. The big bore exhaust was that of the fire engine called whose crew used ladders and ropes to reach and rescue the lady plus a paramedic and a police officer who ended up knee deep in mud trying to rescue her.
