Big rise recorded in farm antibiotic usage

'Last week the European Commission unveiled a five-year action plan to address the problem of antimicrobial resistance in human and animal medicine.

At the same time an alliance of the Soil Association, Compassion in World Farming and Sustain published a report linking the rise in ‘superbugs’ like MRSA caused by drug resistant bacteria to misuse of antibiotics in ‘factory farming’.'

No agreement on milk contracts but Paice hails progress

Call in the Powys Mega-Dairy decision

'Compassion is being joined by the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) in contesting controversial plans for a 1,000-cow mega-dairy in Powys after Councillors recently conditionally approved them.'
