As some of you may be aware, residents in Dunston are being asked by the National Grid if they are interested in the possibility of having a mains gas supply to their village. A feasibility study is currently underway. Although the costs are currently unknown, it is thought that they would be in the region of between £2,500 and £3,000 per property. However, the more people that are interested, the lower the connection cost might become.
At its last meeting, the Nocton Parish Council decided to pursue this further on behalf of Nocton since it was likely that a number of residents in our village would also like to be able to use gas rather than rely upon the considerably more expensive oil for heating, etc. Accordingly, if you are interested in the possibility of having your property connected to a gas supply, could you please email the Parish Council at noctonparishcouncil@hotmail.co.uk quoting your name and address by 17th February 2012. Alternatively, please drop a line with this information to the Parish Clerk, 1 Potterhanworth Road, Nocton LN4 2BP.
It must be emphasised, however, that at this stage no guarantees can be given as to whether this will prove possible although it may well be that if there is sufficient interest, we can join together with Dunston on this, reducing the potential costs still further.
Please note that expressing a view at this stage does NOT commit you or the Parish Council to the supply of gas to your property. At this stage the Parish Council is just trying to establish the potential level of interest.

I attempted to contact British Gas about two years ago saying that many years before they had canvassed the village regarding getting gas to the village but villagers said they werent interested.
ReplyDeleteI explored the possibility of whether they could canvass again as people may now wish to explore this further and their reply was "not cost effective" to even do the survey! so good luck on that one!
