It was a day of excitement and celebration for the members of Nocton and District WI at the Witham Group of WI`s Craft, Cookery and Produce show on Saturday 23rd July. There were entries in every class which included vegetables and fruit, flowers, floral art, cookery, preserves, handicrafts and photography.
The standard and quality of the entries from all of the local WI`s was extremely high but Nocton and District pulled out all the stops to win four of the nine trophies. Julie Partridge won the Minting Trophy for most points in the vegetables and fruit section, Jane Kania won the Branston Trophy for the highest point tally in the photography section and the Area Leaders trophy for most points in the show by a member.
Many of the other members attained an amazing number of first, second and third prizes showing a wonderful commitment and level of skill and ability which led to the best achievement of the day – Nocton and District WI retaining the Andrew Trophy for the Institute gaining the most points in the show.
