Nocton Hall

Arson... again

The pre-fabricated annex to Nocton Hall is no more, having been burnt down on Monday night.  Arson is suspected.  This is the second time it has been alight in my memory and this time it has burnt to the ground.  All that remains is the corridor link access to the mostly derelict Nocton Hall, following the huge fire that engulfed that Grade 2 listed building back in 2004.

Pamper and Craft Evening

I understand this was a really successful evening with a super turnout from local residents.  The activities and stalls were well-organised and prompted much interest and business for the proprietors.  The organisers of this event should be very pleased with the outcome.

At the last Parish Council meeting there was consternation at the lack of support for events in the village.  This was not a problem with this event clearly.  I recall an old saying: 'If you continue to do as you've always done, you'll get what you've always got'.  If Nocton welcomes more innovative activities in future like this, then perhaps people will turnout in support.  Perhaps it is time to move beyond jumble sales and coffee mornings, despite them serving the village well in the past.
