Stephen Phillips QC MP

CAFFO meet with Stephen Phillips QC MP

Local residents from the lobby group 'Campaign Against Factory Farm Operations' http://www.caffo.co.uk/ met with their local MP on Friday 10th December to express their concerns over Nocton Dairies' plans for an intensive dairy on Nocton Heath

Mr Phillips listened carefully to the presentation and was very focused on the issues raised.  The local residents were advised of Mr Phillip's Private Members Debate on 'Intensive Dairy Farming' that will take place in Westminster Hall between 11.00am and 12.30pm on Tuesday 14th December 2010.

Of course, Mr Phillips has already asked the House of Commons for permission to bring in a Bill to guarantee a fair price for milk and to ensure a sufficient minimum distance between intensive dairy farming operations and the surrounding settlements.  See my previous blog entry:

The members of CAFFO who attended the meeting say they found Mr Phillips' grasp of the key issues heartening. One said: "Mr Phillips gave us some very useful advice. It's so refreshing to meet an MP who clearly cares about his constituency and the local communities ... and is prepared to take action where needed."

All of CAFFO are hoping the support of Stephen Phillips QC MP will continue.
