Book Sale

Parish Council Book Sale – Supporting Local Organisations

As reported in the last “Doodle”, Michael Holden, a Nocton resident, very generously donated a large collection of books to the Parish Council for sale, with a request that the proceeds be used to benefit the village.  The sale, which was held over the week-end of 17th and 18th November proved to be a great success raising a fantastic total of £536 – although it is possible that this figure might increase as the remaining stock of books is disposed of.

Thanks are due to Councillor Jilly Burr for helping to organise the sale, those councillors and their wives/husbands for assisting with the arrangements (you know who you are!) and, in particular, to Jim and Ruth Eagle, Richard Free, Graham and Ann Jones and John and Jane Kania.

As agreed by the Parish Council, the proceeds will be available to support local groups and organisations within Nocton.  Any group wishing to apply for funding is, therefore, invited to write to the Parish Clerk with details of their bid, the amount applied for and a brief outline of how the application would benefit the village and their organisation.  Further publicity about this will be available in the New Year but in the meantime, groups might want to think about making an application.  The intention will be to help as many groups as possible so please bear this in mind when submitting any bid.
