Bridge Improvements

Network Rail

The work on the two bridges leading into Nocton is moving on a pace. The arches beneath the bridge on the B1202 have now been filled and sealed, and scaffolding is in place for further works to take place.

For the time-being, attention seems to have shifted to Wellhead Lane. A new compound has been erected and the steep road banks are being cleared of vegetation in preparation for the heavy lifting equipment to operate safely.

This must be an expensive investment for Network Rail, but is long overdue. I'm sure the village will be appreciative of the remedial works once complete. However, there are rumours that the freight rail traffic will increase quite substantially along this line, that is why the work is taking place. We shall see.
