Accepting Orders (AO)
Superfast is in the area. You can check it for yourself on the link: http://www.superfast-openreach.co.uk/where-and-when/default.aspx
BT Openreach Exchanges already accepting orders
SLMIM - METHERINGHAM - FTTC/P - Now North Kesteven District.
FTTC - Fibre To The Cabinet; FTTP - Fibre To The Premises
To check whether your property can get it, you will need to contact your preferred supplier for your home or business. I therefore contacted BT as my current provider to see if I could upgrade my package to BT Infinity.
The BT customer advisor confirmed that Metheringham Exchange was now accepting orders for Superfast Broadband. He also checked to confirm that our cabinet had been upgraded to fibre - and it has. However, he was unable to complete my upgrade to BT Infinity as his 'system' was not giving him the option, although all the signs were that the upgrade work had been completed.
The customer advisor thought there might be some final commissioning work to undertake, but was confident BT Infinity would be available very shortly. He has now registered my email address on his 'system' (a different process than the basic 'registering an interest' I was assured) and this will trigger a 'push' notification as soon as the service upgrade is available.
If you are interested in Superfast broadband, you may want to try to upgrade yourself to see what response you get. Otherwise, keep an eye on the blog for more information as it arrives... and if you have any extra information, please post a comment below.

Nocton is fed initially from Cabinet 3 on the B1188 then a spine cable feeds into Cabinet 3/2 which is outside the Post Office.
ReplyDeleteI have been quoted mid August for Infinity.

Thanks Mick.
ReplyDeleteHello. You may be interested to know that OnLincolnshire have informed me (Nocton resident) that the new cabinet is merely a secondary connection point off Metheringham cabinet 3. The fibre terminates at cabinet 3 and due to the distance of that from my home (they say 2.7km) I won't be able to get super fast broadband.
ReplyDeleteThey suggested that this would apply to the village as a whole and that this was unlikely to be resolved before 2016.
I was extremely disappointed to hear this - perhaps someone has heard different information?
Kind regards
Many thanks DW for this information. This will go some way to explaining why we have to check with our individual providers to see if Superfast Broadband is available for our telephone numbers. When I ring BT, all they have managed to say is that the service is not yet available for my line, but no other explanation beyond that. There seems to be no-one that can give a definitive answer on this matter - appalling communication in this day and age in my opinion!
