Xmas Tree - vandalism

Christmas Lights

I'm sure most residents will agree the Christmas Tree outside the Village Hall looked particularly lovely this year. The tree was a super shape and the lights looked spectacular, twinkling in the dark evenings.

The tree was taken down yesterday, with the lights being removed and inspected carefully, before storing for another year.  During this examination, it has been discovered that an attempt was made to vandalise the lights yet again this year. A section of wire has been clearly cut out from the lighting circuit (see the photo below), but fortunately this was near to the end of the lighting circuit so most of the lights remained fully functional.

Section of wire cut out of circuit - Xmas 2014

This appears to be an identical tactic as was used Christmas 2012 and therefore leads me to think it might be the same sick individual(s) who have attempted to do this again in 2014. One can only imagine what goes through the minds of these people!

Whilst the large majority of people living in or visiting our lovely village are law abiding, it seems there are some who delight in trying to spoil what should be a restful celebration of a religious event that is the highlight of the year for many.

If you are aware of the individual(s) who have carried out what can only be a malicious act, then please don't hesitate to report it to one of your Parish Councillors without delay.
