All the carbon dioxide that is released during the manufacture of turbines - the amount of steel/specialised plastics to make them, the mining and refining of rare earth minerals for the Neodymium magnets in the Nacelles (extremely polluting on its own) and the concrete to hold them in the ground is colossal and much more, I have heard, than the turbines can possibly save during their entire lifetime. It begs the question then why we don't stop the use of further wind turbines and put our money into technologies that work and are less polluting?
