Parish Council meetings - this week

Thursday 25 May 2017

1) Annual Parish Meeting
There can be, and often is, confusion between the Annual Parish Meeting and the Annual General Meeting of the Parish Council.

All Parish and Town Councils throughout England are required by law to hold an Annual Parish Meeting, which must take place between 1st March and the 1st June (inclusive). Meetings should not commence before 6.00 pm.

The purpose of the meeting is so that the Parish Council can explain what it has been doing over the last year and it enables the electors to have their say on anything they consider is important to the people of the Parish. The Agenda has been published here.

2) Annual General Meeting
The Annual General Meeting of the Parish Council is mainly for the election of the Chairman and the signing of the acceptance of office, the election of the Vice-Chairman and the appointment of Members to each of the Committees and to outside organisations. The Agenda for the meeting is here.

3) Extraordinary Meeting - Planning
Additional meetings can be held by Parish Councils to consider other business - in this case it relates to planning applications and issues. The Agenda can be found here.
