Election - results

  1. Is it significant, that in the referendum (2 options), the Nocton electorate managed to spoil 3.4% of the issued ballots whereas in the general election (6 options) across the whole of Sleaford and North Hykeham only 0.16% of the ballots were spoiled? That's a spoilage rate over 21 times more for our referendum than for the GE. Was it a protest of some sort?

  2. Thanks for your comment - I thought something very similar, but further research shows these weren't spoiled papers as such. I have been told they were all left blank, with no markings whatsoever. This would possibly indicate the voters concerned didn't know what this particular referendum was about and did not know where to place their cross. Hard to second guess the real reason behind people's actions I suppose.
