Theft from All Saints Church

Fuel oil stolen

I regret to inform you that there was a theft of fuel oil from All Saints Church last night.

It is thought the theft was between 5.00 pm last night and 8.00 am this morning, but most likely occurred in the early hours, as there was enough residual heat in the church to suggest the frost thermostat had been triggered.

It seems likely the fuel oil was removed by hand as there are no vehicle tracks to the church. I understand the content of the tank has been stolen in the past, with thieves using 5-gallon drums to carry the oil to a vehicle parked on the hospital road.

The lock was cut off the top of the oil tank to gain access.

Please will residents 'keep an eye out' just in case other fuel oil supplies are being targeted in the village.

If anyone has any further information on the above crime, please don't hesitate to contact either Chris Hewitt at email: cwhewitt@btinternet.com or Tel: 01526 320645.  Alternatively you may contact PC Andrew Brown - Police Community Beat Manager - Tel: 0793 989 6212.
