Nocton Hall - update

Nocton Hall

'Nocton Hall is a historic listed building in the village of Nocton, in Lincolnshire... in October 2009 Nocton Hall was listed in The Victorian Society top 10 endangered buildings list in England and Wales.'

Unfortunately, due to years of neglect, theft and arson, the structure of Nocton Hall is in a parlous state of disrepair. So much so it is now fenced off from public access.

I understand Leda Properties of Oxford currently own the premises and NKDC are liaising with English Heritage and the owners over its future.

North Kesteven District Council

I have been in contact with NKDC planning department recently and the following comment has been released on progress to date:

'Following a successful grant application to English Heritage in December 2010 for part funding, the District Council commissioned Anderson and Glenn (Conservation Architects, Planning and Landscape Consultants) in January 2011 to carry out an Options Appraisal. The Options Appraisal is detailed study that will look at each of the available options relating to the future of Nocton Hall and will include a Measured Survey of the building. The Options Appraisal is currently underway, but will take some time to be completed due to the technical and complex nature of the work.'

I telephoned Dr Glenn today regarding his work on the Options Appraisal to try and obtain more detail and he reaffirmed NKDC's update.  He was restricted from giving out too much detail due to the contractual nature of this work, however he did confirm the 'work is ongoing' and there has been 'some progress'.  He also mentioned 'it is a dangerous building' and due to the bad winter they may need to 'retrace some steps', as it seems the structure has further deteriorated. The Options Appraisal will probably need another three months work before reaching its conclusions.
