Nocton Fen bio-digester

Nocton Fen

I have just noticed construction work for the bio-digester on Nocton Fen has commenced.  The walls of one tank can clearly be seen from the fen road.

At the entrance to the site, there is a construction safety board showing the contractors as 'Lundsby Bioenergy'.  I have located a website here: http://www.lundsby.dk/ - but cannot find a UK version unfortunately.  Lundsby Bioenergi PLC appear to have constructed many biogas plants throughout Europe.

The site on Nocton Fen is well landscaped and does not appear to  impact greatly on the surrounding area presently.  It will be interesting to see how it evolves over the next few months... and particularly on any increases in traffic flow through local villages.

If you wish to view my original entry relating to the plans for this bio-digester, click here:

The planning permission can be located on the Lincolnshire County Council Planning Portal by searching for the application reference - N42/0206/10 here: http://eplanning.lincolnshire.gov.uk/ePlanning/searchPageLoad.do

Not in my Cuppa

WSPA have just won an award for their 'Not in my Cuppa' campaign, set up to oppose Nocton Dairies proposal for their mega dairy.

It seems WSPA won the CIPR Excellence Award for the 'Not In My Cuppa' campaign - they were apparently up against Age UK, Macmillan & Facebook... the feedback reported from the judges was that it was a unanimous decision and that the 'Not In My Cuppa' campaign was original, creative & engaging.

Cows belong in Fields

Next week Compassion in World Farming is also up for a national award for their campaign 'Cows Belong in Fields' in the Campaigner of the Year category in the Observer Ethical Awards 2011.
