Past Times - Nocton Hall

To view Nocton Hall you will need to access the pleasure grounds through The Lodge gateway.

The Lodge

As you enter and walk past The Lodge, turn around and look back.

Carry on your journey into the pleasure grounds - on your left is The Garden House.

The next image seems to be a view of the road leading up to Nocton Hall (but I cannot be absolutely certain). I think the turning on the left is the private access to The Garden House. The fencing either side of the road indicates the bridge over the beck (the beck enters the pleasure grounds behind The Lodge and then disappears into The Garden House grounds, before re-appearing in Parklands Avenue).

Approach to Nocton Hall

Walk up this road and on your right is the old grave stone for 'My dog Don'. Almost immediately opposite is the private driveway to Coachman's Cottage (in the photo you can make out The Garden House in the background too).

Continue to the next junction, where there is an Araucaria araucana (otherwise known as a Monkey-Puzzle Tree), turn left towards The Cottage Care Home and you will now see Nocton Hall in all its splendour. Note the manicured verges and shrubbery.

Finally for today, we end up at the historical chestnut tree, supported by the many timbers to keep it upright. There is no further access down this road as it ends in the grounds of the privately owned care home.
