Nocton Hall - slow progress

North Kesteven District Council

Following Karen Bradford's (Corporate Director of NKDC) attendance at the Parish Council meeting, certain actions were scheduled to have taken place.

On 29 June, NKDC were due to meet with Leda Properties (the owners of Nocton Hall and surrounding land, including the old hospital site). 22 July was a reported deadline for work to start on securing Nocton Hall.

The latter date came and went and nothing happened. It seemed the saga of inaction for Nocton Hall was set to continue all over again. However, following an email to Karen, I find this not to be the case. Things are developing, albeit slowly.

NKDC did manage to have a meeting with the landowner who has confirmed to the Council (in writing), that the site will be secured and security improved.

A response from English Heritage has also been received and this will be reviewed as part of an 'Options Appraisal' for Nocton Hall. The initial findings of the survey undertaken by Anderson Glen, the current financial position of Local Government and indeed English Heritage, will all need to be taken into account when considering 'next actions' for Nocton Hall. This appraisal work will be completed by 6 September 2010.

There are some rumours about tenders being out for demolition of Nocton Hall, but this has not been confirmed one way or the other. I hope this is not the case and I will have something more constructive to report after the above mentioned date.
